Item/Description: Signed original oil on board painting by renowned Israeli impressionist artist, Zvi Rafaeli (1924-2005). Rendering depicts street scene in Israel of houses along a winding road. Brightly colored rooftops, flowers and trees in pinks, oranges and green, against a pastel colored sky. Beautifully executed. Artist signed in Hebrew bottom right and in English bottom left: Z. Rafaeli. Black velvet matting, ornate gilt composite frame. ( Judaica, Israel)
Zvi Raphaeli, born in Egypt at 1924, was an Israeli impressionist painter. A rabbi by profession, he incorporated religion and art into his paintings. He was educated in France and studied art at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris and later at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem, after moving to Israel in 1945. Raphaeli's works often depict street scenes in Israel, scenes from Jewish life and festivities and floral still subjects. A man of many talents he was also an art critic and illustrator.

Condition: Very Good. Signs of age, use and wear include spots of surface wear, scratching, scuffs and slight separation to frame along seams on right side. Paper backing peeling off at corner. Hanging hardware intact.
