Description: Item/Description: Extremely rare pair of enameled and gilt-decorated glass vases on glass bases. Each designed with chrysanthemums and praying mantis. Japonisme aesthetic, Art Nouveau. One base signed E. Galle a' Nancy.
Emile Galle, (French, 1846-1904), celebrated designer and pioneer in technical innovations in glass. He was a leading initiator of the Art Nouveau style and of the modern renaissance of French art glass.

Material: Glass, gilt paint

Dimensions: Height: 12" (with base); Width: 4 1/2"; Depth: 3 1/2"

Condition: Very Good. Paint largely intact, colors vibrant. Glass of vases free of cracks, damage. Signs of age, use and wear includes areas of wear to gilding, paint. Chips to bottom edges of vases at point of contact with bases.
