Description: Item/Description: Signed mixed media watercolor and pastel by Polish artist, Simon Natan Karczmar ( 1903 -1982). Depicts two Jewish men deep in conversation, dressed in traditional period clothing of Turn of the Century, Poland. Artist signed lower right: S. Karczmar.
Born in Warsaw, Poland, in 1903, Simon Karczmar studied art in Paris, where he lived for twenty years and emigrated to Israel in 1962. Many of his works evoke his experiences in Eastern Europe, specifically his childhood memories of vacations spent at his grandfather's house in Lithuania. Many works depict daily life in the shtetl (Yiddish for little town) rural villages with significant Jewish populations that could once be found throughout Eastern Europe.

Dimensions: Image size: Height: 10 1/2"; Width: 8". Framed: Height: 18 3/4"; Width: 14 3/4"
Condition: Very Good. Colors vibrant. Work free of rips or tears. Surface use and age wear includes some discoloration/ aging to matting, scratches to wood frame.
