Description: Item/Description: Original landscape scene oil painting. Signed lower left: F. Lichten. Painted distressed wood frame. Original nails and hanging hardware. Adhered to back is an unsigned painting of a fruit bowl, painted in oil in a horizontal plain.
Frances Lichten (American, 1889-1961) was a Research Associate in the Decorative Arts department of the Philadelphia Museum of Art from 1955 until her death in 1961. She brought to the Museum her expertise in Pennsylvania German folk art. She also authored a number of books on Pennsylvania folk art,

Condition: Very good. Paint intact, colors vibrant. On reverse scratches, scuffs to art work. Scratches to frame.
