Description: Item/Description: Original oil painting titled: "A Street in Tangiers", Signed: Henry woods lower right. Orientalist oil painting features buildings, a market plaza and figures all bathed in a golden light. Brass name plaque on ornate, gilt frame.
Henry Woods RA (British, 1846 - 1921) Woods studied art in his native town of Warrington in Lancashire. At first Woods worked as an illustrator for The Graphic and other magazines, but from 1869 he exhibited oils at the Royal Academy. Woods visited Venice in 1876. He was so struck with the city that he settled there permanently. Using the architecture as a backdrop, it was the everyday life of Venice that interested him.

Condition: Very Good. Slightly darkened overall. Chipping, scratches, scuffs, paint loss to baroque wood frame. Old nails and hardware.
