Description: Item/Description: Signed original Josef Presser (American, 1907-1967) mixed media gouache on paper. Seated harlequin in colorful clothing. Downcast, somber expression. Standing crow. Artist signed lower right: Presser. Josef Presser was a Polish born American artist. He emigrated to the United States at the age of 12 and studied at the Boston School of the Museum of Fine Arts. During the 1930s, Presser painted murals as part of the Works Progress Administration program. He married fellow artist Agnes Hart (1912-1979) in 1941. Presser's works are included in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the National Gallery of Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and the Whitney Museum of American Art.

Condition: Overall Very Good. Colors vivid. Surface use and age wear include rip, tear to bottom and right edge; fragility of paper, tiny staple holes top right corner, masking tape on back.
