Description
Description: Item/Description: Fantastic, Orientalist, ornamental bib choker necklace. Seven strands of tumbled polished turquoise nuggets, interspersed with coral bead stations, silver bar spacers decorated with florettes. Strung on silk/cotton thread. Slip-through hook loop closure. The elaborate heart shaped repousse plaque fashioned from silver features a high relief scene of a warrior or deity on a winged dragon, surrounded by serpents and flowers. Wonderful dark patina lends contrast to the relief. Diamond shape turquoise and coral cabochons decorate the border. Decorative rectangular floral bale. No visible hallmarks.
Material: Silver, Turquoise, Coral.
Dimensions Necklace: Length: 15 3/4"( including closure). Dimensions Pendant: Height: 4 1/4" (including bale) ; Width: 5 1/4"; approximately 290 grams total weight.
Condition: Over all very good. Strands are secure, turquoises are all intact, except for one missing diamond on silver breastplate. Surface and use wear to breast; verdigris near bottom of plate; 1/4" split in pendant at top right edge, through and through.
Age: We believe the silver ornamental pendant to be likely from the Qing Dynasty Daoguang Period ( 1821- 1850) and the turquoise strands to be 20th Century, but can not definitively confirm.
Provenance: Private Estate.
